What is Working Equitation?
Working Equitation is an amazing sport that blends functionality, discipline, confidence, connection, and a lot of fun. It's highly addictive! The sport consists of three phases:
1. Dressage Test: This is the foundation, emphasizing precision and elegance.
2. Ease of Handling/Style: Riders navigate a course of obstacles, executing them with calmness and precision.
3. Speed Round: An exhilarating phase where riders race against the clock through an obstacle course, accompanied by clapping, cheering, and fast-paced music. Many riders find this phase particularly enjoyable.
In the UK, these are the primary phases, but international competitions often include a cattle penning phase, which is unfortunately uncommon here.
