Trot or canter over it in a straight line
Canter over it and change lead over the pole, simple change through walk
A figure of 8 with the middle of the pole being the centre of the 8.
Use the pole as a marker for a transition (up & down)
Turn on the forehand. stand your horse parallel along the length of and at the side of the pole . Move your horse away from the pole until you are back 180 degrees facing the other way
Walk forward with the pole between the front legs ridden, led first then ridden. If your'e at an appropriate training stage rein back along the pole.
Trot towards the pole and transition to walk 2 strides before the pole walk over and trot away after 2 strides
Canter or trot over the pole and aim to stop and halt within 6 strides after the pole. Repeat and reduce the number of strides
The pole doesn't have to be in the middle of the arena you could try some of these with the pole in a variety of locations - I like to use a single-pole sometimes in a corner at 45* from the track set in about 2m
